Honey - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 c. sugar
    1 c. water
    4 roses (petals only)
    6 purple clover blossoms
    9 white clover blossoms
    1/2 tsp. powdered alum
Preparation
    Cut meat in chunks.
    Pack clean, hot jars with meat and add 1 teaspoon coarse salt to each jar.
    Put hot lid on and add ring and tighten.
    Bring back 1/2 turn and cold pack in water for 3 hours. Tighten lids and put away.
    Add 1 slice of onion in each jar if desired.
