Alice Peedin Sweet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    small cucumbers to fill glass gallon jar
    2 heaping tsp. pickling spices
    1 tsp. pickling salt
    vinegar to cover
    4 lb. sugar
Preparation
    Wash small cucumbers.
    Pack in glass gallon jar.
    Put as many as possible in jar.
    Using a thin cloth, place spices and salt in middle and tie with string or thread.
    Place this in middle of jar, while packing cucumbers.
    Cover with vinegar.
    Put lid on tightly.
    Let stand 6 weeks.
    Remove vinegar and spices.
    Slice cucumbers, layering with sugar until all is used.
    Let sit, stirring until sugar is melted.
    Leave overnight.
    Place pickles in jars.
