Ingredients

1 1/4 lb. red onions, peeled and sliced thin
1/2 c. vegetable oil
1/2 c. white vinegar
1/2 c. water
1/2 tsp. black pepper
2 tsp. salt or to taste
1 Tbsp. sugar
3 to 4 drops Tabasco sauce
Preparation

Put onions in a crockery bowl.
Mix all other ingredients together in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
Pour over the onions. When cool, cover and refrigerate overnight.
Makes good onion sandwiches or a topping for tomatoes or just plain as a side dish. Makes 3 cups.
