Green Or Yellow Split Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. split peas
    1 stick margarine
    1 large onion
    3 carrots
    3 stalks celery
    3 cloves fresh garlic
    2 small white turnips
    1 tsp. salt
    2 qt. water
    1 Tbsp. thyme
Preparation
    Wash peas, cut up all vegetables very fine.
    Put into pot with water the peas and all vegetables.
    Bring to a boil, lower flame. Cook 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
    When almost cooked, add thyme.
    When done, eat hearty.
