Asparagus With Cheese And Mushrooms - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 or 3 lb. fresh asparagus spears or 2 pkg. frozen
1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced (8 oz. can)
1/2 stick butter
1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. milk
1 c. shredded American cheese (1/4 lb.)
6 slices buttered toast
Preparation

Cook asparagus until done or follow directions on frozen food box.
Cook in boiling salted water 12 to 15 minutes or until stalks are tender.
Drain thoroughly.
Melt butter in pot; add mushrooms and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Remove from pan and set aside.
Add more butter to make 1/4 cup.
Add flour and blend.
Add milk.
Stirring constantly, cook until smooth and thickened.
Add cheese and stir until dissolved.
Add mushrooms; blend.
Divide into 6 portions; arrange asparagus on hot toast. Pour over cheese mixture.
Serve at once.
Makes 6 servings.
