Spice Bars - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. raisins
1 c. water
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 3/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. nuts (optional)
Preparation

Combine raisins and water. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Stir in shortening, sugar and egg. Sift dry ingredients. Gradually add liquid mixture to dry ingredients. Stir in nuts.
Pour into greased 11 x 13-inch pan. Frost when cool with confectioners sugar frosting.
