John Davidson'S Turtle Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels
    2/3 c. evaporated milk
    1 box German chocolate cake mix
    3/4 c. softened margarine
    1 c. nuts (walnuts or pecans)
    12 oz. chocolate chips
Preparation
    Combine caramels and 1/3 cup milk on top of double boiler. Stir until caramels melt.
    Combine cake mix, remaining milk and margarine.
    Blend until mixture holds together.
    Stir in nuts. Press 1/2 of mixture into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan and bake 6 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top and pour caramel mixture over them.
    Crumble remaining cake mixture on top of caramel and bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes. Cool slightly and cut into bars.
