Ingredients

1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
1 c. butter or margarine
1 c. sugar
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
4 eggs
3 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. blackberry jam without seeds (use good quality)
Preparation

Stir baking soda into buttermilk; set aside.
In large mixer bowl, cream butter or margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beat well.
In medium bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg; add alternately with buttermilk to egg mixture, beginning and ending with flour.
Stir in jam.
Bake at 350\u00b0 until done.
Frost with Cream Cheese Frosting.
