Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1/2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 c. corn meal
1 small onion (optional)
1 egg, beaten
3/4 c. milk

Preparation

Sift dry ingredients together and add onion.
Add beaten egg and milk, stirring lightly.
Drop a teaspoon of batter for each hush puppy into fat heated to 360\u00b0.
Fry only a few at a time until golden brown.
Drain on absorbent paper.
Serve with fried fish.
