Sweet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    whole cukes
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 heaping tsp. alum
    2 tsp. pickling spice
    1 c. vinegar
Preparation
    Wash and pack small, whole cukes in quart loosely. Add the next 4 ingredients.
    Finish jar with cold water.
    Let stand at least 1 month, then open as needed.
    Pour off vinegar, slice, add 2 cups sugar and enough water to dissolve sugar and fill jar.
    Let stand 24 hours before eating.
    Shake jar while in refrigerator when you are in the refrigerator.
