Ingredients

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. other shortening
2 c. sugar (substitute 3/4 c. molasses for 1 c. sugar)
1 c. blackberry jam
5 eggs, separated
3 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. soda
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. nuts, chopped
1 c. raisins
Preparation

Preheat
oven to 350\u00b0.\tCream together butter, shortening and sugar and add molasses and jam.
Separate eggs.
Beat yolks
into butter mixture.
Sift dry ingredients and add with milk.
Beat egg
whites
until forms firm peaks and fold into batter.
