Lizzie Juday'S Green Tomato Mincemeat - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. suet
    6 lbs. green tomatoes
    12 apples, peeled & cored
    2 c. cider
    1 lb. raisins
    1 orange
    4 c. brown sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. allspice
    1/2 tsp. ground cloves
Preparation
Finely chop the suet by hand or in food processor.
Transfer to a large (not aluminum) saucepan.
Put over low heat and cook gently.
Finely chop apples and tomatoes and add to the suet. Stir to mix.
Pour on the cider; add the raisins and bring to a slow bubble.
Thinly slice the orange and remove the seeds.
Chop the slices into tiny pieces and add to the tomato mixture.
Blend in the remaining ingredients and simmer, uncovered, for 2 hours, or until the mixture has thickened to a juicy relish like consistency.
Cool to room temperature & refrigerate.
    May be frozen or canned.
