Layered Lettuce And Vegetable Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 head lettuce, coarsely shredded
    1 c. grated carrots
    1 c. chopped purple onion or Vidalia
    1 small can Oscar Mayer bacon bits
    3 tsp. sugar
    1 c. chopped celery
    1 c. chopped green pepper
    1 large can peas, drained
    1/2 c. mayonnaise
    Parmesan cheese
Preparation
    Layer vegetables in 2 or 2 1/2-quart casserole, starting with 1/2 of the lettuce and the other vegetables as they are listed. End with the other 1/2 of the lettuce.
    Mix sugar and mayonnaise; spread over salad at least 1/2-inch thick.
    Be sure to touch sides of salad.
    Top with Parmesan cheese.
    Cover tightly and chill overnight.
    Delicious! Serves 8.
