Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. sliced cucumbers
    6 medium sliced onions
    3 cloves garlic, sliced
    1/3 c. salt
    5 or 6 c. sugar
    3 c. vinegar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Slice cukes, onions and garlic.
    Place in pan and add salt, then add 3 trays of ice.
    Let stand 3 hours.
    Drain liquid off and wash good 3 or 4 times.
    Drain again.
    Mix vinegar, sugar and spices on and bring to a good boil.
    Then put in cukes and boil for 10 minutes.
    Put in jars while hot and seal.
