Sour Milk Donuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1 egg
    1/4 tsp. cinnamon
    1 Tbsp. melted shortening
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 c. sour milk
Preparation
    Sift together all dry ingredients.
    Beat egg with sour milk. Add dry ingredients and melted shortening to egg mixture.
    Mix smooth.
    Turn onto floured board; roll to 1/4-inch thickness.
    Cut with donut cutter.
    Fry in deep fat until brown.
    Turn once while cooking.
    Drain on paper towels.
    Dust with confectioners sugar, if desired.
