Navy Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. dried navy beans
    2 qt. cold water
    1/2 lb. bacon or ham
    1 c. chopped onions
    1 c. chopped celery
    1 c. chopped carrots
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Wash and soak beans overnight. Add meat and 2 quarts water. Simmer 2 or 3 hours until tender. Cook other ingredients separately. Add the last hour of cooking.
