Herbed Broccoli Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 c. salad oil
    2 Tbsp. white vinegar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. basil leaves, crushed
    1/8 tsp. garlic powder
    1/16 tsp. black pepper
    2 c. sliced carrots
    1 1/2 c. broccoli medallions
    2 1/2 c. broccoli florets
Preparation
    Combine oil, vinegar, salt, basil, garlic powder and black pepper; set aside.
    In a medium saucepan, bring 2 inches salted water to a boil.
    Add carrots and medallions; simmer 2 minutes. Add broccoli florets; simmer 1 minute.
    Drain and place in a bowl; toss with reserved dressing.
    Cover and refrigerate until chilled or overnight.
    Serve garnished with lettuce leaves, if desired.
