Fried Okra - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 qt. okra
1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. plain flour
1/2 c. corn meal
1/2 tsp. salt
pepper to taste
1/3 c. oil
1/3 c. shortening
Preparation

Wash okra, dry, slice into 1/2-inch pieces.
Mix together flour, corn meal, salt and pepper.
Pour egg over okra and stir well.
Dredge in flour mixture.
Heat skillet; add oil and shortening.
Add okra and fry until brown.
Stir often to prevent burning.
Drain well before serving.
