Lime Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 to 8 lb. cucumbers
    2 c. hydrated lime
    2 gal. water
    2 qt. white vinegar
    1 Tbsp. salt
    8 c. sugar
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. whole cloves
    1 tsp. pickling spice
    1 tsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers
    1/4-inch
    thick
    and
    cover
    with lime water. Soak 24
    hours.
    Stir
    often
    with wooden spoon. Rinse well and cover with\tfresh water for 3 hours.
    Drain and cover with solution of next 7 ingredients, then let stand overnight. In a.m., place over heat and boil gently for 30 or 40 minutes, then can.
