Asparagus Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. fresh asparagus, cut into 1 inch pieces
    2 med. onions, sliced
    5 Tbsp. butter, divided
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1 c. milk
    1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, cubed
    1 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    1/2 c. Cheddar cheese, grated
    1 c. soft bread crumbs
Preparation
    In a skillet, saute asparagus and onions in 1 tablespoon butter until crisp tender (about 8 minutes).
    Transfer to ungreased 1 1/2 quart baking dish.
    Melt 2 tablespoons butter in saucepan.
    Stir in flour until smooth; gradually add milk.
    Bring to a boil.
    Cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Reduce heat.
    Add cream cheese, salt and pepper.
    Stir until cheese is melted.
    Pour over vegetables.
    Sprinkle with Cheddar cheese. Melt remaining butter; toss with bread crumbs.
    Sprinkle over casserole.
    Bake uncovered at 350\u00b0 for 35-40 minutes.
