Plain Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. self-rising flour
    1/2 c. shortening, butter or margarine
    3 whole eggs, slightly beaten
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Measure the shortening in a bowl.
    Sift in the flour and sugar.
    Stir in the eggs and 1/4 cup of milk.
    Beat 2 minutes or 300 strokes.
    Add 3/4 cup milk and vanilla.
    Beat 75 strokes.
    Put mixture in a prepared cake pan and bake at 375\u00b0 until done.
