Molasses Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. ginger
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 large Tbsp. shortening
    1 egg
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/4 c. molasses
    1 c. boiling water
Preparation
    Mix shortening, egg, sugar and molasses.
    Beat well.
    Mix dry ingredients.
    Add gradually to other mixture.
    Add 1/2 cup of boiling water.
    To other 1/2 cup of water, add 1 teaspoon soda. Add last.
    Bake in an 8 x 8-inch greased and floured pan at 350\u00b0 for about 45 minutes.
    Will be a little tacky on top.
    Good served plain or with Cool Whip.
