Frankfurter And Sauerkraut Sauterne - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 Tbsp. butter or oleo
    1 medium onion, chopped fine
    1 apple, peel and chop fine
    1 (No. 2 1/2) can sauerkraut, drained
    1 1/2 c. Sauterne wine
    1/2 c. water
    2 Tbsp. brown sugar
    salt and pepper
    1 lb. frankfurters or knockwurst
Preparation
    Melt butter in a large frying pan.
    Add onion and apple. Saute slowly until onion is yellow.
    Add sauerkraut, 1 cup of wine, water, brown sugar, salt and pepper.
    Mix well with a fork. Cover and simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
    Arrange frankfurters on kraut and add remaining 1/2 cup wine.
    Cover and simmer 15 minutes longer.
    Makes 4 servings.
