Potage Megali(French Mediterranean Leek Soup) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sliced leeks
    1 c. sliced onions
    4 to 6 cloves garlic or according to taste
    4 c. peeled, chopped tomatoes, drain liquid and keep separately
    1 qt. chicken broth
    6 to 8 leaves fresh basil
    3 Tbsp. chopped parsley
    2 Tbsp. tomato paste
    4 Tbsp. olive oil
    4 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1 1/2 c. cooked orzo (this is pasta, it looks like rice)
    2 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation
    Saute the leeks and the onions in oil and butter (or margarine) until soft.
    Add the tomatoes.
    Cook for 5 minutes.
    Add the tomato paste and the previously drained juice together with the chicken broth.
    Add the orzo.
    This dish tends to taste even better the next day.
