Thunder Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
1 c. cold water
1/3 c. pureed tomato
2 1/2 c. cake flour
1/2 c. dry cocoa
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
Preparation

Cream together first 4 ingredients.
Separate eggs; blend yolk in.
Beat the whites until stiff.
Fold them in.
Add cold water and tomato.
Sift together cake flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt.
Mix dry mixture into creamy mixture.
Bake in 2 greased and floured 8 1/2-inch round pans at 350\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes. Frost with chocolate butter frosting.
Top with strawberries (optional)
