Texas Grits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 c. water
    1 c. grits
    1 egg, well beaten
    1 clove garlic
    salt to taste
    butter to grease 9 x 10-inch dish
    1 c. cheese, grated
Preparation
    Bring water to boil; add grits while stirring.
    Lower heat to medium when grits have turned water white.
    Take off heat and add egg, slowly so white blends in, stirring constantly.
    Add cheese. Butter 9 x 10-inch dish.
    Pour grits in dish and cook in oven at 375\u00b0 until center is firm.
