Lentil Burgers - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. lentils
    1 1/2 c. water
    1 1/4 tsp. salt
    3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1 c. chopped green onions
    1 clove garlic, crushed
    3/4 c. bread crumbs
    1/4 c. wheat germ
    1 c. finely chopped walnuts
    2 eggs
    4 tsp. steak sauce
    3 drops red pepper sauce
    sliced tomato and onion (optional)
Preparation
    Rinse and
    drain the lentils and put in medium saucepan with the
    water\tand
    3/4
    teaspoon
    salt.
    Cook 25 minutes or until tender.
    Drain and discard excess cooking liquid.
    Mash lentils. In\ta
    medium
    skillet,
    melt 1 tablespoon butter or margarine and add onions and garlic.
    Saute until soft, about 2 or
    3
    minutes. Stir
    in
    lentils, along with crumbs, wheat germ, walnuts,
    eggs, steak
    sauce, 1/2 teaspoon salt and hot pepper
    sauce.
    Shape into
    four\tpatties.
    Melt\tremaining 2 tablespoons
    butter
    or margarine and fry patties over medium heat until
    brown,
    3
    to 5 minutes each side, lifting patties occasionally
    with
    spatula
    to prevent sticking.\tServe with sliced tomato or onion, if desired.
