Hermits - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. flour
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 c. raisins
1/2 c. oil
1 1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. molasses
5 Tbsp. water
Preparation

Mix all dry ingredients.
Blend in egg, oil, molasses and water. Add raisins. Dough will be thick and hard to blend, but worth it. Spread in a greased 13 x 9-inch pan. Brush with a beaten egg.
Bake at 350\u00b0 until done, about 20 minutes. Hermits will be about 1 1/2-inches high, chewy and delicious.
Cut into squares.
