Cottage Pudding Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 c. shortening
    3/4 c. milk
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 egg
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 c. sugar
    1 pt. hot water
    2 to 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
Preparation
    Add vanilla flavoring to taste. Cook until thick and serve over warm cake.
