Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    25 to 30 medium cucumbers
    8 large onions
    1/2 c. salt
    5 c. vinegar
    5 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    2 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Wash and remove ends of cucumbers; slice with skins on.
    Peel and slice onions.
    Layer cucumbers, onions and salt; let stand 3 hours in refrigerator.
    Combine all other ingredients and bring to a boil; add well rinsed and drained cucumbers and onions.
    Bring to a boil.
    Pack in jars and seal.
    Makes approximately 12 pints.
