California Casserole - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/4 c. oil
1 lb. lean ground beef
2/3 c. chopped onion
1/3 c. chopped green pepper
1/2 c. rice
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
3/4 c. ripe olives
2 c. hot water
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
Preparation

Brown meat in oil in skillet.
Spoon into 2-quart casserole (leave drippings in skillet).
In drippings, cook onion and green pepper until limp and brown.
Leave drippings and spoon vegetables over meat in casserole.
In skillet, cook and stir rice until light brown.
Stir rice, seasonings and olives into meat and vegetables.
Blend water and tomato paste; pour over meat mixture. Bake, covered, at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
Serves 4 to 5.
