Ingredients

3 c. sugar
1/2 c. Crisco
3 c. flour
1 c. milk
1/2 to 3/4 c. chopped nuts
2 sticks oleo
5 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. vanilla-butter and nut flavoring
Preparation

Cream shortening, sugar and salt.
Add eggs, one at a time. Add flour and milk alternating.
Fold in flavoring and nuts by hand (cherries, too, if wanted).
