Stromboli - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    enough bread dough for 2 loaves (may use frozen bread, thawed)
    1/4 lb. thin sliced pepperoni
    3/4 lb. Genoa salami
    3/4 lb. Provolone cheese
    1 egg, slightly beaten
Preparation
    My mother was a very busy woman, as there were 10 children to feed each day.
    She baked 25 pounds of flour into bread every other day.
    If her batch of bread wasn't baked when we dashed home for lunch, she would make fried bread for us.
    She would take a chunk of raised dough, slice it and pull it flat and fry it in deep olive oil.
    When it was brown and crisp, she put it on a platter and sprinkled with sugar.
    It didn't last long!!
