Stew For All Occasions - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (16 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
    2/3 c. dry red wine or water
    1/2 c. beef broth
    1/4 c. quick cooking tapioca
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    2 tsp. dried herbs
    2 tsp. salt
    2 small bay leaves (whole)
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    3 lb. cubed beef chuck
    1 lb. carrots, chunked
    3 onions, quartered
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients in a 5 or 6-quart Dutch oven or crock-pot. Cover and bake for about 3 hours, stirring twice, until beef is tender and sauce thickens.
    (Remove bay leaves.)
    Makes 8 servings.
