Caramel Candy - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 sticks oleo
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. corn syrup
2 c. pecan pieces
Preparation

Dissolve baking soda in buttermilk in a large saucepan. Combine butter, sugar, syrup and buttermilk in mixture, mixing well.
Cook over medium heat until mixture reaches soft ball stage when tested in water.
Add vanilla and remove from heat.
Beat until it begins to harden.
Add pecans and beat.
Drop on oiled platter or wax paper by spoonfuls.
