Swedish Rye Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 cake or envelope dry yeast
1/2 c. warm water
1 tsp. sugar
1/4 c. dark molasses
1/4 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. water
1 Tbsp. salt
1 tsp. anise seed
2 c. buttermilk
1/4 tsp. baking powder
2 c. medium rye flour
Preparation
-
Mix yeast,
water
and\tsugar
and
let stand for a few minutes.
In
saucepan,
bring to boil molasses, water, sugar, shortening, salt and anise seed.
Place buttermilk and soda in large
mixing bowl.
Add partially cooled molasses mixture and yeast mixture.
Stir
in rye flour.
Add white flour and knead until dough is not sticky.
