Icebox Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 large cucumbers, sliced
    3 onions, sliced
    salt
    4 c. white sugar
    4 c. white vinegar
    1 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/3 tsp. celery seed
    1 1/2 tsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Soak cucumbers and onions in 1/4 cup salt and ice water for 2 or 3 hours.
    Drain and rinse well.
    Pack in a gallon container. Combine vinegar, sugar and spices and pour mixture over cucumbers and onions.
    Refrigerate.
