Chop Suey - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 lb. pork, diced
3/4 lb. beef, diced
6 Tbsp. soy sauce
1/2 c. water
1 small bunch celery, cut 1/2-inch thick (use more or less celery as desired)
1 large onion, diced
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 (No. 2) can bean sprouts
1 small can mushrooms
bamboo shoots or water chestnuts (if desired)
Preparation

Sear diced meat in skillet until brown.
Mix soy sauce and water.
Add to meat, simmer 2 minutes.
Cook celery and onion in small amount of water until tender.
Add meat, simmer 1 1/2 hours. Mix cornstarch with water to form paste.
Stir in meat mixture, add bean sprouts and mushrooms (also water chestnuts or bamboo shoots if desired).
Cook gently until thick.
Season to taste with salt.
Serve with chow mein noodles or fluffy rice, or both.
