Molasses Crinkles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/4 c. plain flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
    3/4 c. shortening
    1/4 c. molasses
    1 large egg
    granulated sugar
Preparation
    On
    sheet
    of
    waxed
    paper, combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon,
    ginger,\tcloves and salt; set aside.
    In large bowl, with
    spoon, beat brown sugar with shortening, molasses and egg until well blended.
    Stir in flour mixture.
    Cover; refrigerate 1 hour.
    Preheat
    oven to 375\u00b0.
    Shape dough into balls about 1 inch in
    diameter;
    roll
    in
    sugar.
    Place
    3 inches apart on ungreased
    baking sheets.
    Bake 10 to 12 minutes, or until tops have cracked.
    Yield: 4 dozen.
