Apple Pandowdy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon or nutmeg
    6 or 8 sour apples
    grated rind of 1/2 lemon
    2 tsp. lemon juice
    1 Tbsp. hot water
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 recipe rich 1 crust pie pastry
Preparation
    Combine sugar, salt and cinnamon. Pare and core cut apples into eights. Place in deep baking dish. Add sugar mixture, lemon rind, lemon juice and water. Dot with butter.
    Cover with pie crust. Bake in preheated 350\u00b0 oven for 1 hour or until apples are tender.
