Crunchy Fried Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 firm, ripe tomatoes
    1 egg, beaten
    1 c. dry bread crumbs
    1/3 c. butter or margarine
    salt
    pepper
Preparation
    Slice the tomatoes.
    Dip slices into the egg; then into the bread crumbs.
    Melt butter in a large skillet.
    Drop the tomatoes into the butter, turning only once, until golden brown.
    Season to taste.
    Makes 4 servings.
