Cherry Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 egg
    1 c. milk
    2 c. flour, sifted with 2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. pitted tart cherries
    1 c. sugar
    2 c. boiling water
Preparation
    Mix the first 7 ingredients like cake batter and put in a buttered 9 x 9-inch cake pan.
    Mix sugar and cherries well.
    Put on top of batter.
    Pour boiling water over top of cherries.
    Bake at 300\u00b0 for 1 hour.
    Serve with whipped cream.
