Greek Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. lean beef in 1-inch cubes
    3/4 c. tomato paste
    8 small onions
    2 carrots
    2 potatoes
    1/4 c. butter
    2 c. water
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. dried basil
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Brown the beef cubes on all sides in a skillet in 1/4 cup butter.
    Transfer the meat to a casserole.
    In the skillet, saute the onions until golden.
    Transfer the onions to the casserole.
    To the skillet add the tomato paste and water.
    Bring the sauce to a boil and pour it over the meat and onions.
    Cover the casserole and simmer the stew in a 350\u00b0 oven for 1 1/2 hours.
    Add the carrots and potatoes, cinnamon, basil, salt and pepper.
    Cover the casserole and cook for 30 to 35 minutes longer at 350\u00b0, until meat and vegetables are tender.
    Serves 4.
