Ingredients

4 or 5 large onions
3 Tbsp. butter
1 Tbsp. flour
3 cans beef broth
3 cans water
1 bay leaf
6 to 8 pieces bread, toasted
1/2 c. Parmesan cheese
Preparation

Melt butter.
Add onions.
Cook until light brown.
Sprinkle in flour.
Add broth, water and bay leaf.
Cook 30 to 40 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese.
Put bread cubes on top.
