Grandma'S Never Fail Kringle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 compressed yeast
    1/2 c. lukewarm water
    1 c. shortening
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    3 eggs, separated
    1 tsp. salt
    4 c. flour
    1 c. lukewarm water
    brown sugar and raisins or dates and nuts
Preparation
    Dissolve yeast cake in warm water.
    In a large bowl, put flour, shortening, salt and sugar.
    Beat egg yolks.
    Add the warm milk and yeast mixture.
    Pour all in the flour bowl and mix well. Cover and place in refrigerator for 3 to 4 hours.
    Roll out and spread with beaten egg whites, brown sugar, raisins, dates, nuts or whatever you want.
    Let rise about 1 hour and bake on cookie sheet for about 1/2 hour in a 350\u00b0 oven.
    Yields 3 kringles.
