Mable V. Brown'S Best-Ever Dark Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs, well beaten
1 lb. raisins
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 lb. citron, diced
1 scant cup butter
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 lb. each chopped English walnuts, Brazil nuts and almonds

Preparation

In a heavy saucepan, cover raisins with water and cook until 1 cup of liquid remains.
Drain, reserving liquid, and allow to cool.
