Dill Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. vinegar
    3 qt. water
    1 c. canning salt
    2 dill sprigs (to each qt. of pickles)
    1/4 tsp. alum (to each qt. of pickles)
Preparation
    Wash cucumbers; put dill in bottom of each jar.
    Place cucumbers neatly in jar.
    Bring vinegar mixture to boil.
    Pour over cucumbers. Add alum. Put on lids.
    Set aside to cure for 6 weeks.
    Mixture can be saved to use for next batch.
