Sunny Silver Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 Tbsp. plain gelatin
    1/4 c. cold water
    4 eggs, separated
    1 c. sugar
    Juice and rind of 1 lemon
Preparation
    Soak gelatin in water; beat egg yolks until light, add juice and grated rind of lemon and 1/2 cup of the sugar.
    Place this in a double boiler and cook, stirring all the time until smooth.
    Add gelatin and cook 2 minutes more. Remove from heat and add stiffly beaten egg whites to which the other 1/2 cup of sugar has been added.
    Fill a 9 inch baked pie shell with mixture.
    Refrigerate at least three hours
    before serving.
    Top with whipped cream.
