Peanut Butter Pie - cooking recipe

1 c. xxx sugar
1/2 c. peanut butter
3 eggs, separated
2/3 c. sugar
1/4 c. cornstarch
2 c. scalded milk
2 Tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/3 c. xx sugar

Preparation

Blend sugar and peanut butter; put 2/3 cup in a baked crust. Beat egg yolks until fluffy.
Add sugar, salt and cornstarch. Beat well.
Add hot milk slowly.
Cook in a saucepan until smooth and thick, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat; add vanilla and butter.
Put mixture into crust.
