Supreme Caramel Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. light brown sugar, packed
    2/3 c. light corn syrup
    1/4 c. butter
    1/2 c. heavy cream
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine sugar, corn syrup and butter in saucepan over medium heat, stirring frequently, until sugar is dissolved.
    Continue cooking until it forms a firm ball in cold water or 242\u00b0 on candy thermometer.
    Remove from heat and add vanilla and cream.
    Stir to blend.
    Cool.
    Serve warm over dumplings, cake or apple pie.
